An obvious danger

"I cannot imagine any condition which would cause a ship to founder. I cannot conceive of any vital disaster happening to this vessel. Modern shipbuilding has gone beyond that."-  John C. Smith, captain of the Titanic.

I feel like many Americans have the same attitude towards the potential nuclear fallout in Japan. As much as we'd like to believe that the problems exist a world away, the problem is...we're all on one world. What happens here effects what happens there, and vice versa.

I bet the people who built nuclear fallout shelters in the 60s are laughing now.  Shouldn't we be sending every professional possible to help think of a solution?

I'm starting to believe that the world really will end in 2012.
