Mid-September Update

I've reached an all time low with my happiness project. I dare say that I am downright miserable. This is health month so I scheduled my doctor's appointments and already went to the eye doctor. I started ballet and I'm officially one month into my new job. By any other means these things would be accomplishments, but instead I feel the opposite. Many people can try to convince me otherwise, but how I feel inside, is how I feel.

Let's start the pity party. I left a job where I was an expert to pursue my dream job. I am sad that I am not at expert level. I know this will come in time, but -1 for confidence. I've been dancing ballet on and off again for 10 years. This is the first time I've looked in the mirror and not liked what I see. The eye doctor says I only need to wear glasses for distance, driving, night-time, and computer (so basically all the time). I'm struggling to find balance.
I feel like the more I try to get a grasp of one thing, another thing falls to pieces. I realize that I'm stressing myself out for no reason, but these things are compounding and I feel like I'm losing it. As a Guest once said:

"You can have all the most beautiful flowers in the world, but I'm not a millionaire."  At first glance it seems like the ramblings of an angry theme park guest, and that may be true, but for some reason this quote years later has stuck with me. It's essentially saying you can have everything and if you make the best of it, then fine; if you don't, then you'll never be happy.

Another thing is that for the first second time in my life, I'm letting some random person dictate my a particular happiness, but unlike the past, this time I actually care. Because I care, I will fight tooth and nail for this happiness. I'll be the first to admit that I pass judgment quickly and harshly. It's not the person as much as the overall feeling of disrespect no matter how true or false a situation is. I'll leave it at that.

So all this combined stuff has done a number of my sanity and confidence. Pity party table for one, my table is ready. I'm playing the world's smallest violin. I suspect that I will just keep going and see what happens. Work smarter, not harder.

Ain't nobody got no time for Best Buy

There's just something about Best Buy that sets me off. For my last two visits to Best Buy, I've had pretty bad experience. Not from the employees, well, not really; but I usually end up yelling at someone and storming out of the store. I never want to be THAT person, but it seems that in my older age I get agitated quickly.

You would think that working in customer service, I would have more patience, but I think I set myself up for these experience.

Best Buy Trip 1:
I see my fault with this one. I visited Best Buy on December 23, 2012, to get a final gift card for John. Nothing else, just a gift card. I grab a gift card then waited in line for an hour. This occurs after my 8 hour work day. While in line, I play with my phone and do things normal people do. The guy behind me starts touching me. At first, I thought he just brushed up against me. I am not one to be too rude, so I throw a nasty look and brush it off. I stepped as close and out of the way from this guy as I could, but his hand continues accidentally brushing my leg and butt. Ugh! So I finally get to the register and the lady says, "Oh we can't activate gift card, we haven't been able to all day."

That's pretty much when I lose my mind. I screamed "Well a sign would help," and threw the gift card and stomp out of the store. In my peak of rage, I may have dropped a Merry F*ing Christmas. I'm definitely not proud, but at the same time, a sign really would have helped. The exhaustion and the guy harassing me also contributed to this incident.

Best Buy Trip 2:
Yesterday, I decided that for my birthday/Graduation/necessity to buy a new computer. After researching, I decided to go with Samsung's Google Chromebook. At the time, it was sold out online, including Amazon with 4-6 restock. I called Best Buy at 9 AM and was told that they had the computer in stock. Again, probably my fault that I work a 60 hours a week, but I could not get to the store until about 8:30 PM. I ran out of a meeting and made it to Best Buy by 8:35 PM with the store closing at 9:00 PM. There were two fatal errors, not skipping the meeting, and going to the Best Buy at the Mall in Orlando. Malls in Orlando = tourists. I run to the computer section and after a desperate tracking of an employee, discovered the Chromebooks. A Brazilian Tourist had the LAST one in his hand. Working in a theme park, you can ID a Brazilian Tour Group miles away. The store associate was quite apathetic when I asked if there would be more in stock. She said, "Well, they're so cheap, so they sell out quickly." Then, the tourist puts the box down, so I make a move for it and he grabs it again. This is when I regretfully say: "Do you even have plugs that size in your country!??"

The Sales Associate tells me to either order the computer online, or drive 20 miles out of my way to fight for one of eight of these left in the entire state of Florida. Oh the humanity, I just want a cheap computer.

Anywho, I return home and complain to my brother, who of course opens Amazon and found that the Chromebooks came back in stock hours earlier. So I ordered my new computer and it's on its way. I probably wasted more time and energy going to Best Buy than just waiting to order online.

Needless to say, I am just going to order everything online from now on.

Wow it's been a bit.

It looks like the last time I posted was about a year ago. It turns out that I go through these phases of writing online and then writing in my real paperback journal. Summary of my life in the past year - got promoted a couple times, but still not making enough money to do what I want to do. Almost done with school, but not quite. Decided I'd try to go to law school - studying for the LSAT. Still in Orlando.

So, since I have a small few weeks break from school, I have itchy fingers and need to write. Expect a gear up again. I would say this blog is once again for real, but I have commitment issues.

Kim vs. Barnes and Nobles Customer Service

I'm not one to complain but....I have truly been wronged and now totally understand how easy it is to get frustrated when trying to deal with customer service. I have been dealing with Barnes and Nobles customer service for four weeks.

Skip this paragraph, if you do not want to read my customer service peril.
(In a nutshell, I bought a Nook sometime back, and all was well and good.  The thing has a history of freezing, but usually resolved itself in a day or two.  Well of course, a few days after my warranty expires (literally 7 or 8 days), I put my nook down to walk the dog. I came back and it was frozen.  I did every instruction thing found on the internet to unfreeze it.  Finally, I gave up. I chatted with Barnes and Nobles on the internet, who basically told me to bring it to a store. At first I thought it was a battery issue. I brought it to the store, where I learned it was actually a hardware issue. But this is also where I find out about my warranty. I was told too bad, so sad. Which is when I emailed customer service yet again and told to call.  I called and they told me to try all the steps aforementioned. I decided, maybe my nook needed a break, so I waited a week and tried all these unfreeze things again. It's dead. I emailed again, and was told to call. On several separate occasions, I attempted to call and was on hold for 30 minutes.  As I only have a 30-minute lunch break at work, I gave up and am once again trying the email/chat function.)

I've been saying I'd be willing to pay for repairs. I would rather pay for a repair than have a $149.00 paperweight. However, I am completely and utterly disgusted with the idea of buying a new one. I can understand if the thing was like a lightbulb, where it's suppose to die eventually. But it's a mini computer almost, and it's not suppose to have a short lifespan. I did a lot of research before I invested a paycheck into this thing. All I want to do is read and basically Barnes and Nobles is saying...sorry, too bad, buy a new one.

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask that Barnes and Nobles assist with just standing by it's star product. I'm not asking for a new one, a fancy one. I just want this one to work as an e-reader and not as a paperweight.

If this does not work out, I think my next steps will be to write to the president of the company. If no response then go to the BBB.

07/15/11 FBI: 'Enraged' flier pelts crew with peanuts

CNN reported a story about an  'Enraged' flier pelts crew with peanuts.  I could not help but laugh, because I can totally see myself going crazy and doing the same thing.  It's a common joke amongst my friends, who are equally as stressed out as myself that we will start smoking e-cigarettes.  I'm so close to losing my mind that I can see myself throwing peanuts at people screaming "mah, mah mah, wizards, mah" until I get taken out in a straight jacket. Fully knowing, this is my fate, it's so funny.

My dog is a bully

Today was by far the worst day I've had with Charger.  I try to walk her every day, like a good pet owner, but she went crazy. Instead it took 40 minutes to get up and back to my house. She was biting me aggressively to the point when I returned home, both of my calves were bloody. My neighbors probably think I was abusing my dog, but I was trying to defend myself.  A bunch of people came out and saw me pinning my dog on the ground to get her to stop biting me. Which only enraged her more. 20 minutes to torture back to the house.

I was so frustrated and disheartened I told my parents I didn't want her anymore and that she should get turned into a fur coat. At which point, my parents blamed me and told me it was my fault for letting her bite me. At that point, I cried a large amount of tears, punched a wall, screamed at them to go to hell then went to the gym to blow off some steam.  This was all before 11 AM by the way. Hell, must have froze over, because I'd rather be at work being screamed at about things I have no control over then be home.

Honestly, I'm afraid of my dog now.  No one believes that she physically hurts me. I show them my scars and my parents blame me. So with this losing situation, I have no idea what to do. Our dog trainer is coming tomorrow. I want to take a video camera out on my walk to show them what it is like walking with her attacking me.

The above is the best video I've found so far explaining how to get her to stop biting. Each day is a new opportunity....to learn something.
